Critical Review Four

  1. Before deciding on a blog for my final review, I already had it in the back of my mind to comment on Ginny’s, Government from a Stay at Home Mom’s Perspective. From the first week of blogging, the title alone caught my attention. Not only was it creative, but realistic and human. I’m sure I don’t just speak for myself, but we need that creativity when talking politics. It seems like it contains so many dark areas, why not shed some light to it? In addition to her catchy title, the layout of the blog always seemed to be well organized and consistent with her postings. She brought additional information with links and photos to help aid her feelings on each critical question for the week. Overall, I felt Ginny was truly trying to make sense of each week’s topic without being biased.
A particular strength I saw in Ginny’s post, she seemed to use the book as a solid reference before looking into further detail. She definitely showed a level of comprehension from her readings which made it nice to interpret her meanings compared to my own. Again, I saw her blog as very creative. She seemed to incorporate additional references or posts here and there that would again aid in her discussions, but also allow her to really talk about her feelings regarding the subject. Most of Ginny’s posts were compelling and seemed to be put in the simplest of words for just about anyone to understand. I think the main reason she was able to get so much innovation and creativity in her posts was because each time she posted it was genuine and from a place that showed Ginny truly cared.
If there was anything I could tell Ginny in hopes of helping her to improve her blog, I really couldn’t. She isn’t false with her verbiage nor does she seem to do each assignment because they are merely a requirement. I do see, however, how some of the emotion and truth she puts in to her blogs may stir up another individual with feelings opposite than her own. This is by no means a fault of hers, but because there is so much to be said from reading one of her posts, someone with feelings just as strong, but in an opposite direction, may want to be heard as well.
Throughout each week, Ginny’s discussions and blogs were definitely some that I would take the time to ready and comment on. Like I mentioned earlier, there was truth to what she had to say, but also confusion. Seeing that in another peer’s postings helped to ease my own mind knowing I wasn’t alone while learning a deeper side to politics. I would have to say that over this semester Ginny was always engaged in weekly assignments and not only to do well in the class, but because she showed she was learning and really trying to get something from the class. Thanks Ginny and Nice work!
